The Dark Room is one of Fukuoka, Japan's best and longest running international bars. Owner Moses Yamane launched his establishment in 1995 as an alternative to the expensive discos and mediocre music that characterized nightlife in Fukuoka at the time. From the start, the Dark Room has featured live DJs and an excellent selection of music from around the world, especially rock and roll.

This “urban rock bar,” however, is more than just a full-service bar where people come to listen to good music. There is a dance floor, a rooftop garden in the warmer months, billiards and foosball, food, parties and all the people who make it a flagship of entertainment in Kyushu. The Dark Room has established such a name for itself that rock stars, Hollywood actors and other celebrities regularly drop in when passing through town.
